Featured! Angela and Andrew’s Poptastic Engagement Session

I’m so excited for my first feature on Poptastic Bride! I love how there’s a site for couples who want to create something unique for their engagement/wedding. I can’t think of a better site to feature such a fun and colorful engagement session. If you haven’t seen the images, check them out here.

Tyler’s First Birthday | Santana Row Birthday Photographer

Tyler was turning one and his mother planned an amazing Willy Wonka themed birthday for him! The guests had an amazing catered lunch, while the kids had fun with a face painter, a balloon artist and a bubble lady. The candy table would make any kid jealous! Near the end of the party, Tyler’s parents laid out objects symbolizing various objects for Tyler and watched as he crawled toward one of them. It’s believed that the object a child selects will foretell a child’s future. In Korean, it’s called a Doljabi and you can read more about it here. Happy 1st birthday Tyler!

I’m a sucker for a soft and fuzzy blanket, and this one is adorable!

I’ll let you guess which one Tyler ended up choosing…

A Proposal – Catherine & Jack | Bitter + Sweet | Cupertino Wedding Photographer

Jack contacted me a few weeks ago announcing that he was planning to propose to Catherine! Since I’ve known them both since high school, I was very excited to capture this special day for them. Jack told me he had made a video for her to watch to lead up to his proposal. The video, as you’ll see below, is a heart-warming story of how everyone has a stuffed animal that matches up to a counterpart stuffed animal. Jack had been searching for his counterpart with no luck, until he … well, I’ll let you watch the video and find out for yourself!

Jack planned to propose at an intimate cafe called Bitter+Sweet in Cupertino so we went a few hours early to get set up with the help of his friends. The premise of the evening was that Bitter+Sweet was having their one year anniversary (actually this part is true!) and that there would be a discount if you brought a stuffed animal. Each of his friends was to bring a stuffed animal, which they would later try to match with Catherine’s bear that would be watching Jack’s video with her. Jack would come out and match their bears showing that they were truly made for each other!

Unfortunately the video cannot be embedded into this post, but if you’d like to see it, please click here.

Here are the stuffed animals Jack’s friends brought. I personally love the fat pig and the crocheted angry bird and octopus!
Here are some of Jack’s friends preparing for the big moment!
Jack excused himself to the bathroom (to hide) while Catherine was given a laptop to watch the video he made for her.
Jack obviously wants to see what’s going on!
Each of Jack’s friends hand Catherine a balloon and try to match their stuffed animal to hers.
After all his friends attempt to match their stuffed animal with Catherine’s bear, Jack comes out with his matching bear!
Jack then takes Catherine aside and gets down on one knee for the big moment…
She says yes! (After jokingly saying no first!)
I love the big smile on Jack’s face!
And of course calls need to be made announcing the recent engagement!
Kisses all around!
And more kisses!
Any more balloons and he might float off…

Visionart Fine Art Album

I have to say that I absolutely love wedding albums. From designing them to seeing the final album and holding one in my hands, it’s very rewarding on both an artistic and emotional level. Putting a day’s images into an album really brings the story of a day together, especially in today’s world of viewing the majority of our images mostly through our computers and phones. Some albums you can pretty much guess what they’ll be like from seeing photos, but this new offering from Visionart really must be seen and felt to really appreciate the quality. Unlike a flush mount album, the art paper is glued back to back. While the pages are thicker than normal photo paper, this is a more modern take on the traditional wedding album (thicker pages also available). They print using archival inks onto museum-quality fine art paper which faithfully reproduces the vibrant colors and details that I see when editing my images. When I received the album, I was so impressed when I could see so much detail in the sand in Denise and Alex’s engagement photo in Honolulu!

I pour my heart and soul into designing all of my albums knowing that my clients will treasure and enjoy these for a lifetime, or even longer by passing them on to the next generation. If you’d like to see this album, and my other album samples, please contact me using the contact form at the bottom of this blog post.

Albums are offered with a variety of leather and bookcloth options. Parent albums are also available as a gift for a couple’s parents to show off their children’s wedding photos in style!

Here are some of the original album spread designs. I wanted to try something different and made 3 sample spreads of various engagement sessions in addition to one full wedding story. An engagement album can also be made to show at the guest sign-in table!

Katrina and Darren Wedding Reception | San Jose Wedding Photographer

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Katrina and Darren a few times now and I’m so honored to have been able to capture their wedding reception. Katrina and Darren had their wedding in the Philippines, but they still wanted to have a celebration in San Jose with their local friends and family. Without the hustle of getting ready for a wedding ceremony, I had a great time hearing about their trip to the Philippines and capturing Katrina while she had her hair and makeup done. We got some gorgeous shots of them before the guests arrived and they had a wonderful night of hanging out with all their guests! Congratulations again you two!

They even flew her gown to the Philippines and back!
